HOW TO APPLY:

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICANTS:

 APPLICATION FEE: $50 and INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FEE: $1,000 for Onsite students or $100 for Online students.

academyart.flywire.com The Application Fee and International Student Fee are non-refundable and non-deferrable and only valid
for the original semester you have applied for. The International Student Fee is refundable only if the applicant shows proof of visa

 FINAL HIGH SCHOOL (secondary school) TRANSCRIPTS and DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE. Can be official or
unofficial, but must show degree/diploma awarded and graduation date or degree date. If your transcripts are not in English,
please send them to us in their original language. The Office of the Registrar will contact you to arrange translation with one of
our approved translation companies in San Francisco. The deadline to submit your final, translated transcripts or
diploma/graduation certificate is by your first semester start date.


 FINAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS for Transfer Credits Review. Students who wish to transfer credits from a previous college or
university program can submit official or unofficial transcripts. . If your transcripts are not in English, please send them to us in their
original language. The Office of the Registrar will contact you to arrange translation with one of our approved translation companies in
San Francisco. We cannot review transcripts until they have been translated into English.

 PORTFOLIO. Not required but may be submitted at http://discussion.academyart.edu/applicant/login/undergrad/international
to waive foundation or major classes. College transcripts must also be submitted to transfer credits and should show the
classes/subjects, grades, credits, and a number of hours completed for each class. Class waiver is not guaranteed, as student must
demonstrate a level of experience equivalent to the learning outcomes of the class.

Tuition and Fees: The Academy is consistently one of the best values in private education in the United States. International students pay the same tuition and fees as US Citizens and US Permanent Residents. The price for on-campus and online classes is the same. Tuition is based on units ($873/unit for Undergraduate and $982/unit for Graduate as of Fall 2016). Full-time students enrolled in 24 units (Undergraduate) or 18 units (Graduate) total during two semesters can anticipate the following estimated academic year costs:

Please note: International students must submit an original bank letter showing US$37,600 to support their study and living expenses and to qualify for admission (official bank statement can be accepted by e-mail). U.S. Financial Aid is not available to international students.

 

Tuition payment is due the Saturday before classes begin each term and can be paid in full or by installment (installment plan not available during summer semesters). Students can pay with cash, credit card, wire transfers, traveler check, money order, or bank check payable to Academy of Art University.

 

Art Supplies, Books, and Materials: Academy of Art University students can purchase required items at local art supply and general stores at a significant discount using their ID cards. The cost of these supplies varies from class to class.

 

Housing: Housing is guaranteed to all new full-time students. The Academy provides a wide array of accommodations located in prime areas of San Francisco, including specialized housing for graduate students and international students. Building and room assignments are given on a first-come, first-serve basis upon receipt of full payment. Students can move in housing couple weeks before the start of the semester.

 

  • For Fall or Spring term (about 4 months): The rental fee ranges from $3,973 - $7,921 per semester; and
  • For Summer term (about 2 months): The rental fee ranges from $2,080 - $4,686 depending on room type.

 

All facilities include wireless Internet access, utilities, garbage disposal, shuttle bus access, basic furnishings (bed, desk and desk lamp, chair/stool, mobile drawer unit, stove and refrigerator). Meals are not included and meal plans are required for some first-year residence halls. Refer to our website for more information.

 

Free Student Support Services

  • ESL Support: Writing Lab, Speaking Lab, Multimedia Lab, Online Writing Lab (OWL), Online ESL Support, and ESL Support Teacher. Online students do not need to take TOEFL but English proficiency is required.
  • ARC (The Academy Resource Center) offers a broad range of services to provide outstanding educational support and training for Academy students and faculty such as workshops and tutoring.
  • Campus Life offers students interactive opportunities to participate in various social activities that promote peer connections and extracurricular enjoyment.

Athletics Department: the Academy offers recreational intramural sports as well as competitive teams.

The Academy does not offer financial aid to international students since our tuition rate is typically much lower than other Art & Design schools in the US.

4) WES or NACES member Evaluation report requirement. 

WES or ERES reports may be required from students if we are unable to determine their eligibility for our programs.

5) IELTS/ TOEFL requirement. 

Optional. International students are typically required to take our English test upon arrival in San Francisco to determine if they need ESL classes or not.

6) GRE/GMAT/SAT requirement

Not required at all.
