About Colorado State University

Colorado State University (also referred to as Colorado State and CSU) is a public research university located in Fort Collins, in the U.S. state of Colorado. The university is the state's land grant university, and the flagship university of the Colorado State University System. The current enrollment is approximately 32,236 students, including resident and non-resident instruction students[4] and the University is planning on having 35,000 students by 2020.[5] The university has approximately 1,540 faculty in eight colleges and 55 academic departments. Bachelor's degrees are offered in 65 fields of study, with master's degrees in 55 fields. Colorado State confers doctoral degrees in 40 fields of study, in addition to a professional degree in veterinary medicine. In fiscal year 2012, CSU spent $375.9 million on research and development, ranking 60th in the nation overall and 34th when excluding medical school spending.

International Year One in Data Science


The IYO program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Data Science with specializations in Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics and Statistics. The Data Science major within the College of Natural Sciences uses computer science, mathematics, and statistics to learn how to tackle the large and complex data sets that are now at the heart of every industry. Students will work alongside classmates and faculty who are passionate about solving big problems – and about making an impact.



  • Computer Science: Allows students to dive more deeply into the programming behind big data work
  • Economics: Provides students with the technical and theoretical foundations in data science while also allowing for a focus on economics
  • Mathematics: Offers additional upper-level coursework to give students deeper insights into the dynamic world of big data
  • Statistics: Provides a strong foundation of applied and theoretical statistical knowledge to empower successful data analysis

*In this major, students will take a core of data science, computer science, mathematics, and statistics classes and then pick a concentration. All concentrations come together to complete a team capstone project.


International Year One in Life Science - Pre-Health Professions


The IYO program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Biological Science, Chemistry, Environmental Health, Health and Exercise Science, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Nutrition and Food Science, and Zoology.
